Anatel extends the deadline for interest-free payment of Fistel for 15 days
Decision was justified due to the impacts caused by the coronavirus pandemic and the restricted functioning of bank branches
Anatel has exceptionally suspended until April 15, the interest (SELIC) and late payment penalty on defaulted obligations whose maturity is in the period between March 20 and April 10. With this decision, the payment of the Fistel (Telecommunications Inspection Fund), which was due on Tuesday, 31, is extended for 15 days.
The justification for the decision is based on the impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the consequent restriction on the functioning of bank branches. According to the agency, the issuance of bank slips that can be paid in any bank is already available and through the various means that banking institutions provide: internet, cell phone applications, self-service terminals, among others.
These guides can still be collected at lottery shops, various bank correspondents and post offices, subject to the conditions established between these correspondents.
Anatel points out that the suspension of late payment charges does not imply the right to refund any amounts already paid.
